The Great Toilet Caper
When Luke turned 18 months, it was suggested by his pedi that I get a potty chair, just to introduce him to the idea. "Even if he sits on it and reads a book, it is a step in the 'potty training' direction, " is what she told me. So I got him a potty chair. And the first thing he did was sit on it a read a book. Over the past 2 months he has enjoyed sitting on the potty. He will join me and hang out and ask for toilet paper so he can "wipe" too. (Mind you he is still fully clothed when doing all this.) He has even started pointing to his diaper after leave me a lovely smelling present. All great foundation laying to Potty training. He has also started enjoying putting toilet paper into the toilet. Any chance he can get, he will rip off little pieces, lift the lid and throw them in. Then those little pieces started to get bigger and bigger. He is going to clog my toilet one of these days. Next thing you know he threw one of my hair ties in there! Lets just throw that right in the trash. Argh! You take 2 steps forward in trying to teach them something and next thing you know you are fishing all sorts of things out of the toilet because they think ANYTHING can go in there.

Ahh the Toilet - a child's favorite way to get Mommy's (negative) attention... I'm doomed - can't lock the toilet/bathroom because the big one needs it, but the little one is throwing her shoes in it... I find myself saying to Daniela "go to the potty" repeatedly and to Cameron "No Potty! Yucky!" just as often.
Do you think I can teach Cameron to clean it while he plays in it? LOL.
Finn is doing all of those EXACT same things. Super cute! I even taught him today how to retrieve a new roll of tp when mom is stranded. Granted it took 10 minutes of me pointing and Finn guessing (a lot of little hands raised in question at my gesturing). But in the end he got it, and beamed! And I got the tp. :P
