Gavin's RAST test results

Well, life would just NOT be interesting enough to only have ONE child with food allergies. I suspected that Gavin had a food allergy after he ate if first birthday cupcake and then preceded to turn all red and blotchy–mostly on his face but a couple of spots on his stomach. Administer Benedryl. Mike was convinced that it was from him rubbing frosting all over his face, irritating his skin, but I wasn't taking any chances. But there was nothing in the cupcake that he hadn't had before, so if he was havgin a reaction, I had no idea what it was too. So when we saw the doc, she added the RAST test to his list of blood work.

The results: The thing he is most allergic to is Egg whites. Well I suppose that would explain the cupcake, but I had made him omletts in the past with no reaction. He is also allergic to milk. Good thing he is only drinking 24 oz of that per day. Again, so reaction in the past. And he also has a VERY slight peanut allergy. Gee, saw that one coming. So off the the alergist we will go for skin testing. Doc said not to change his diet in the mean time. Fortunatly, egg and milk allergies are ones that kids typically grow out of, at least more so than peanut and tree nut allergies.
