Last night I went to a seminar about siblings. Now that Gavin is getting older, he and Luke are starting to interact more, whether that is in the form of chasing each other around the room, or tugging on he same toy while screaming at each other, they are starting to foster a relationship. While I know they will fight, and probably often, I want to make sure that they have many good times together, so that later in life, they can look back and remember what a good time they had together. Siblings are truly your life partners. They are with you from they very beginning of your life to the end. They share inside family jokes, remember family vacations, traditions, pain and joy. They share a history with you like no one else.
I've made it no secret that I hope that Luke and Gavin have a good relationship like the one my brother and I share. You might remember this post. And So I went to this seminar to gain some insight on how I might be able to foster a good relationship between them.
Lisa Hanson and Heather Kempskie put this little gem together–The Siblings Busy Book. Inside are 200 activities that siblings can do together. They break each activity down giving instruction on how to slightly change the activity for babies through school-aged children (9-10yrs.) I bought a copy of the book on the spot. With Winter coming, I'm going to need all the ideas I can get.
While I was at the seminar, this is what Mike was doing with the kids.

I use to work with Heather and love the book
I used to do that with Lauren. She was the one in the basket. Except i did not get up and I know I did it when my parents were not around. I think it continued for several years. Good luck.
