Big Boy Bed-take 2

Yesterday morning, while I was folding laundry in the bedroom, Luke wanted to get into our bed. So I lifted him up and he climbed under the cover and pretended to sleep. So i said to Luke, Do you want to sleep in your big boy bed. He replied, "yes, I want to sleep in my big boy bed!" So I said, "Would you like to take your nap in it later today?" "YEAH!"

Mike was home, helping out so that I could get some rest, so it seemed like the perfect time to try. plus we would have the weekend as well. So nap time rolled around, and mike took Luke down to the bedroom, read him a book, put him in his big boy bed, and there he slept from 12:30 -2:15. Gavin slept in Luke's crib, and only took a 45 minutes nap.

When Luke got up from his nap, I asked him how he liked sleeping in his big boy bed. He said he liked it a lot. I asked if he wanted to sleep in there again that night. He replied , "yes". As bedtime approached, I reminded him that he was going to sleep in his big boy bed. He seemed excited about the idea. Mike got him ready for bed, as I got Gavin off to dreamland in the crib.
Mike grabbed some books from Luke's room, and luke starts crying, "No I want to go to the big boy bed!" Daddy explained that he was just getting his books for story time, and off to the big boy bed they went.

About 30 seconds after Mike came out to the living room after reading and tucking Luke into bed, we hear the pitter-patter of little feet coming down the hall and into the living room. I tell Luke he has to go to bed, and he throws himself down on the ground and starts to cry. "Come on I say, I will read you another book and tuck you in." I pick him up, we read a very short book and into bed he goes. I explain that he needs to stay in bed. Off I go. one minute later, Luke returns. I take him back to bed, and explain again that if he doesn't stay in bed, I will have to Lock the door. Not sure if he got it, but he stayed in bed. He chit-chatted for another 30 minutes, and mike went down to check on him. He was still in bed, just playing with his puppies. We didn't hear from him until 5:15 this morning. Mike went in as soon as he heard him. Luke said, "I want Mommy." Daddy told Luke I was sleeping, and Luke went right back to sleep. 5 minutes later Gavin woke up. He also slept through the night. I made him a bottle and got him to go back to sleep until 7:15 this morning. Luke slept until 7:20. A successful evening.
Perhaps the trick, was just to wait until Luke was ready to sleep in the big boy bed. We will see how today goes.
